Pokemon GO Upgrade Items and Components
An upgrade item is a special item that will make certain Pokemon change. The upgrade can be obtained by spinning a PokeStop's photo disc, and is often offered as a reward in Pokemon GO events.
The Upgrade can also be placed in weapons, armor trinkets, gathering tools and trinkets to increase the level of their item. The upgrade costs Flightstones or crests, based on the kind of item.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armors, weapons and gathering tools to increase attributes bonuses or other effects when the equipment is being used. Upgrade components are only available on equipment with an upgrade slot available. Most upgrade components also require that the item being upgraded is above a certain level. Certain upgrade items come with special visual effects that can be seen when they are applied. Upgrade components can be obtained by crafting, bought from Karma merchants, or exchanged with other players through the Trading Post. There are various upgrade components, each of which comes with various bonuses. Universal upgrades such as gems and inscriptions can be applied to any type of equipment. They provide fewer bonuses than other kinds of upgrade component. Infusions can be used on non-amulet and legendary ascended items, while enhancements can be used on some back equipment that is ascended. Injecting an upgrade component will cause the destruction of the previous upgrade. There are exceptions for glyphs (which can only be inserted into gathering tools) and enchantments, which can be removed and put back in.
Insignias, enchantments, and upgrades with prefixes or suffixes will be displayed in the hover display of the item, while they will be added to the equipment's name (e.g. the word Radiant Insignia could change the name into Radiant Tyrian Armor). The number of upgrade components that have been added to an item will be displayed in the item's tooltip.
Glyphs
Glyphs are special characters that can be added into an OpenType font to add functional or decorative elements such as ligatures, ornaments, fractions and swashes, registered trademark symbols and ellipses. The Glyphs panel allows you to see and insert these particular characters along with normal glyphs, such as em dashes, en dashes, registered trademark symbols and characters that are not found in other fonts (such as dingbats).
Each Glyph provides a character with a boost in primary stats. It also includes up to four secondary stats that affect the radius of the glyph on your Paragon Board. Secondary Stats are a percentage increase which is multiplied by other bonuses, with the exception of Speed Glyphs that directly increase the hero’s speed.
Selecting the Glyphs and clicking "enchant" will activate the Glyphs. This will display a new window with the Glyphs you own that can be applied to the selected item. Note that only the right type of Glyph can be applied to the selected item, as every weapon, jewelry or armor piece can have an array of different Glyphs.
Glyphs can be leveled up by running Nightmare Dungeons or completing Tree of Whisper quests. The more challenging the dungeon is, the greater the amount of Glyph experience you'll gain. Once a Glyph attains level 15 it is upgradeable at the Glyph Upgrade Altar. Upgrading a Glyph increases its radius on the Paragon Board by one node every 15 levels.
Once a glyph has been upgraded to its desired level you can activate it by selecting it and then clicking the "enchant" button. The resulting glyph will provide its stated bonus and will also boost all the other nodes within its radius on the Paragon Board. Glyphs should be put where they will benefit your building the most. This is why you should prioritise Magic Glyphs as soon as possible. Rare glyphs may also offer double bonus when certain conditions are fulfilled.
If you're having difficulty finding a particular glyph, click the cycle widget on the Glyphs panel to display the panel in a variety of different views. Each of these views displays the Glyphs in a different font. You can narrow down the list of glyphs you want to see by selecting an option below "Entire Font". For example, punctuation only displays punctuation glyphs. Math Symbols restricts the choices to mathematical symbols.
Rerolling
Rerolling is a method in which you create a brand new account to give yourself more opportunities to play an item or character you are interested in. You should ensure that you make a clean change when you roll back. This means that you must verify locally that the patch is able to pass the pre-commit checks and conduct a core development test. Certain items, like Goldwrap and Whistan's Shield (both BiS) that are used frequently may require an upgrade to increase their value. For such items, it may be worth the extra cost to upp them.
